MI Sportster, built from plans in the  November issue, 1951 of Mechanix Illlustrated magazine.

These cars were raced in the ’50s and could still be if equipped with modern safety equipment added.

It was built from early Ford V8 parts and has a Washington title as a 1941 Ford convertible.  It is lowered by a dropped axle in front and “Zed'” frame in the rear.  The engine is a ’59 AB Flathead Ford with Edmunds heads, duel carburators, early Ford 3 speed transmission and rear end.  Wheels are 1935 Ford wires, tires, front 600×16 Avon V rated, rear 650 Dunlop racing.

Car is very fast, runs and drives good.  Owner has driven it 1500 miles this summer with no problems. An original magazine will go with the car, as well as a set of the enlarged original plans which the magazine offered for $3.00.
