The Lotus Elan was the first Lotus road car to use a steel backbone chassis with a fiberglass body. This style of construction was to be repeated in subsequent Lotus models for nearly three decades.

This generation of the two-seater Elan was famously driven by Diana Rigg in the character of Emma Peel in the 1960s British television series The Avengers.

The reference to a car accident in the Beatles song “A Day in the Life” was apocryphally based on Tara Browne’s fatal accident in his Lotus Elan.

This Elan is a perfect candidate for a light restoration. Interior boasts a wood grain dashboard in wonderful condition for its age.
