1961 Rambler American 2-Door Convertible
Engine 195.6 ci. In. Flathead 6 cylinder
In 1961 the Rambler was an all-new design and American, for the first time since 1954, added a 2 door convertible to its lineup. There were 10,855 6 passenger convertibles produced.
This sporty ‘61 Rambler Convertible would be a great project car. It has been repainted at some point and there appears to have been some body repair. The car looks pretty solid with no major rust-out showing. The original color of the car is listed as “Briarcliff Red” and although the car has been repainted at some point, it appears to be close to the original color with “custom” trim level. The top is in good condition. The power top does not operate but and we have not tried to diagnose the problem.
The brakes need a complete rework. The wheel cylinders are leaking as is the master cylinder. The master cylinder is currently off the car and in a box inside the car. Although the car runs, due to the brake issues it cannot be driven.
The engine runs good and the interior is in good condition with normal wear. It engine is missing the air cleaner. The car has an older paint job and it has some scratches and dings. A set of new tires is needed as they are different sizes.
