The Lincoln Continental was a series of automobiles produced by the Lincoln division of the Ford Motor Company from 1939-1948, 1956-1980 and again from 1981-2002. Throughout its entire production the Lincoln Continental was distinctively classified as a luxury vehicle. The first generation of the model was produced from 1939 to 1948. The original design of the model was an elegant convertible supposedly modeled after the Lincoln-Zephyr. Long, low and sleek, the first generation of Lincoln Continentals is often stated to be one of the most beautiful designs from the Pre World-War II era.
Due to the attack on Pearl Harbor, production of the Continental ceased until 1945-1946. The sleek motor vehicle received a face lift with an updated trim, new front grill and walnut interior trim (added in 1947). The 1939-1948 models are recognized as one of the last-built “Full Classics” by the Classic Car Club of America.
True to Continental form, this 1947 Lincoln Continental Convertible is long, sleek and elegant. It is a tasteful continuation of the Edsel Ford/Eugene Gregorie design and finished in a soft chiffon yellow with a luxurious brown-leather interior. It features matching fender skirts, a continental kit with extra tail lights and a black fabric top boot. The interior is lush and clean with an in-dash clock and radio. Fitted with 292 cu. in V 12 Lincoln engine and 3 speed manual gearbox Continental spare wheel, in dash clock and original radio. A very well preserved example with no rust. Recognized by the CCC of A as a full classic.
