The BMW R50/2 was a family of motorcycles that was introduced in 1960. The R50/2 was largely an improved version of the BMW R50, featuring the same engine, but with an output of 26hp from the 500cc horizontally opposed twin powerplant. These shaft drive motorcycles were equipped with a 4 speed transmission, and in production until 1969. A variation of the R50/2 featuring telescopic forks was introduced in 1968 under the name BMW R50US.
