Only 3, 940 produced for 1957, this rare and impressive 1957 Packard Clipper presents itself very well. Taken down to bare metal and professionally resprayed to the original factory lilac and artic white. Looks impressive as is but a machine buffing would make it perfect. Solid rust free throughout. Rarely seen for sale. Only 4dr and station wagons were produced for 1957. Handsome lines and clean styling adorned with stainless trim and chrome in all the right places. Runs strong and smooth. Clean undercarriage. Well maintained, runs and drives well, could use a tune-up and some TLC. This 57 Packard is a unique combination of restored and original. All the exterior trim and chrome are original, ranging from VG to some having pitting and showing age wear… the dashboard and door panels all in excellent condition. Seats, trunk, headliner and carpet are also nicely preserved along with a very clean engine bay compartment. Tail lamp bezels have pitting but still polish up nicely. Odometer shows 60, 000 miles which are believed to be original. The 1957 Packard marked the first year of Studebakers merge with what was the original Packard marque. Flight-o-matic automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, twin traction differential, factory padded dash, factory tinted glass, twin rear antennas (factory power), windshield washer, wonder bar style radio, rear speaker, electric clock, newer correct white wall tires, detailed engine compartment, paperwork including copy of original invoice. A powerful 289 V8, this Packard goes down the highway at 60 mph and stays straight as an arrow and never veers. Would be a beautiful sight to behold cruising through the English countryside on a sunny summer’s day. Stylists made the right choices when designing the 57 Packard’s adorning the back end with the beautifully sculpted 1956 Packard clipper tail lamps, extending the rear quarter outward to give the car a sweeping look. Stylists graced the front hood with a 1955 Packard hood ornament giving some distinctive pure-Packard features from previous years. This Packard presents itself proudly at car shows and will always attract lively conversation especially from devoted Studebaker and Packard collectors alike. This rare Packard would not need a whole lot more to upgrade to a solid near perfect cruiser.
