Lot #511 - 1931 Ford Model A Rumbleseat Roadster
1931 Ford Model A Roadster
This charming 1931 Ford Model A Roadster is, well, charming.
It has presence. Perhaps it’s the deep blue paint. Maybe it’s the wire wheels dressed in wide whites and the side-mounted spare dressing up the driver’s-side front fender. Perhaps it’s the rumble seat and the attached trunk.
But for whatever reason, this is a car that stands out, even among other Model As.
1931 was the end of the line for the hugely popular A Model. It had served its role as successor to the Model T more successfully than anyone, including Henry Ford, could have imagined.
Among the last-year As, the ’31 Roadster has always been coveted — partly because of its hot-rod potential, true, but that just makes stock examples like this one that much more desirable.
This car has been held by a single owner for the past quarter-century, accounting for its integrity and solid condition.
The beautiful thing about collecting Model As is the community, which provides the collector with fellowship, encouragement, advice, and parts. But it sure helps to start with such a solid, charming example.
