The 1973 model year saw the last “big” Mustang before downsizing; the 351 CID R‑Series “HO” V8 was dropped, replaced by the Cleveland 351 CID Q‑Series “Cobra Jet” at 258 HP SAE Net.
The Fastback shared the same body style as the coupe but had a sloped rear roofline.
It was one of the last Mustangs to offer a 4‑barrel V8, with the 2‑barrel version being more common.
