Lot Listing #543 1972 Citroen DS 21

$0.00

This 1972 Citroën DS21 is finished in blue over brown leather and powered by a 2,175cc inline-four paired with a four-speed semiautomatic transaxle. The car is said to been refurbished in the mid 2000s by Citroën Classics of America in San Diego, California, including a repaint and an overhaul of the drivetrain, hydropneumatic suspension, and brakes. Equipment includes 15” wheels, European-specification swiveling headlights, stainless-steel bumpers, and air conditioning.

The body was repainted in blue under prior ownership and features European-specification swiveling headlights with glass covers as well as US-specification taillights and turn signals. Additional exterior features include a Citroën-logo hood ornament, dual side mirrors, Pallas-style side trim, and stainless-steel bumpers with black rubber guards.

Painted 15” steel wheels wear stainless-steel covers and are mounted with a mixed set of 165-series Michelin and Vredestein tires. The car rides on a self-leveling, height-adjustable hydropneumatic suspension with parallel semi-leading arms up front and trailing arms out back. Stopping power is provided by inboard-mounted front discs and rear drums.

The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in brown leather with color-coordinated door panel inserts and black carpets. Additional appointments include a Coolaire air conditioning system and a clock located in the center of the dash. The trim panel above the rear parcel shelf is detached and shown in the gallery.

The single-spoke steering wheel wears an aftermarket cover and fronts Jaeger instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer flanked by a warning light cluster and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline along with supplementary gauges. The lever atop the steering column operates valves that control gear selection and clutch engagement via the central hydraulic system. The five-digit odometer shows 36k miles, and is said to have rolled over. True mileage is unknown.

The 2,175cc inline-four is mounted behind the transaxle and features a two-barrel Weber carburetor. The air conditioning compressor has been replaced with a rotary-style unit.

Power is sent to the front wheels through a four-speed semiautomatic transaxle.

Chassis number 4658194by the local retired original Citroen dealer but unfortunately have to sell it for health reasons.
