#027 Sirius Boat Model (#2)

$0.00

The Sirius ship from The Adventures of Tintin (a comics series by Belgian cartoonist Hergé.)

In the cartoon series, the Sirius was a trawler used by Tintin, Captain Haddock, and Cuthbert Calculus during the treasure expedition searching for the treasure of Red Rackham. The ship is featured in Red Rackham’s Treasure.

The Sirius was named after the SS Sirius, the first ship to cross the Atlantic Ocean solely under steam power but was visually based upon the design of the John-O.88, a trawler launched in 1936. SS Sirius sunk in 1941 after being attacked by German fighter planes. Hergé had sketched this ship in Ostend docks before obtaining both detailed plans of the trawler from its builders, Jos Boel & Son, and a small-scale model from a collector.

This Sirius model was built by master craftsmen who handcrafted these nicely detailed models from scratch using her photographs, drawings, and original plans. The model is built to scale with top quality wood such as teak and mahogany with a hollow superstructure and hull. The model is 100% handcrafted using a plank-on-frame construction method, similar to the building of the actual ship. Each model requires hundreds of hours to finish and must go through a demanding quality control process before leaving the manufacturers workshop. This Sirius ship model is mounted on a solid wood base and is ready to proudly display.

  • Dimensions: 26″ (L) x 5″ (W) x 12″ (H)

  • The model is already built, NOT a model ship kit

  • Handcrafted from the finest woods & metal fittings
