Lot #139 - 1933 Cadillac 355C Dual Cowl Phaeton

$0.00

VIN: 3001448
1933 Cadillac Series 355C 4-door convertible

Is there anything more luxurious than a 4-door convertible with a divider window between the chauffeur and the rear cabin?

This magnificent V8-powered colossus is a striking example of prewar automotive luxury. Beautiful, deeply patinaed wood trim tops the doors and dash, which is amazingly intact and original. Sidemounted spares grace the front fenders. Chrome-encased windows roll up to the canvas roof. This car is beautifully original, and its 93-year-old lacquer paint, while crazed and chipped in spots, holds up remarkably well. The divider window, designed much better than those of many Cadillac competitors, cranks up perfectly.

This is one imposing automobile. Yes, the Series 355 V8s were Cadillac’s “small” engines in 1933, but nobody could look at this car and think it evoked anything but elite luxury. So many pleasing details meet the eye – the lovely beveled edges around the rear-view mirror, the reconditioned upholstery, the absolutely perfect original steering wheel that is a work of art all by itself.

This is a full CCCA Classic, a beautiful car for touring, a significant rarity and thus a wonderful investment.
