Lot #179 - 1940 Packard 180 Super Eight Sedan "Ex- Tora! Tora! Tora!"

$0.00

VIN: 13422140
Just out of a large estate collection
Out of 25-year ownership
Requires basic recommissioning
Out of static storage, not currently running
An extremely collectible and highly sought-after Packard

This handsome 1940 Packard Super Eight Sedan is recently out of a large estate collection where it was under the same ownership for the last 25 years. These are the opportunities experienced collectors jump on.

  • This eighteenth-series Packard is in true original condition and has not been molested. Presented in a stately black with grey interior, it has all the quietly elegant design and patrician feel that one expects of a Packard of this vintage.

The eight-cylinder, nine-main-bearing L-head 365 ci engine introduced in this model year is one of Detroit’s most iconic power plants, and represented quite a step up from the 1940 junior-level Packards, the 110 and 120 models.

This example was a film star, if not a matinee idol - under contract with Twentieth-Century Fox for the 1970 production of Tora! Tora! Tora!, an epic film about the attack on Pearl Harbor (which also starred Jason Robards).

Lots of reasons to love this Packard. With minimum effort, this honest car could be the pride of anyone’s collection.
