1928 Chevrolet AB National Roadster
The 1928 Chevrolet National held the last of the overhead valve 171 cu. in. 4-cylinder engines which produced 35 hp. Many Nationals fitted with these engines were recalled and then destroyed due to the prevalent overheating issues. Chevrolet would not be producing another 4-cylinder engine until the 60s. Contains a RAXKO 1-barrel carburetor [the first and only year] and a 3-speed manual transmission. Currently the vehicle has no gas nor coolant - only about 2 quarts of water in the radiator and adequate amount of oil in what appears to be decent condition. Visually there is no exterior rust and no evidence of any major dent or paint repair. Though keys are included it is important to note that the vehicle had a switch installed just under the ignition which needs to be pulled forward before attempting to turn the key. The right rear tire recently had a valve replaced due to improper pressure readings. Despite having multiple keys, none seem to be able to open the trunk. These Chevrolet Nationals had brakes on all four wheels which were still mechanical. Unusually, though many systems regularly used 6 volts, this roadster ran on a 12-volt electrical system. At the time, it would have cost about $495 new, which is about $9639 today; Typically, the average sale price for these vehicles on auction sites is $17,642.
